What Tends to Fail First on the 2005 Infiniti FX35

The systems that tend to fail first on the 2005 Infiniti FX35, with the typical mileage window when each becomes a concern. Detailed repair-cost ranges and exact what-to-check inspection notes are in the full report.

1
Front Suspension & Steeringmoderate~60,000-100,000 mi

Lower control arm bushings and sway bar end links frequently wear out, leading to clunking noises, imprecise steering, and tire wear. Power steering rack or pump leaks can also develop.

2
Engine Oil Leaksmoderate~80,000-120,000 mi

Valve cover gaskets, especially on the passenger side, are prone to hardening and leaking oil onto exhaust manifolds or spark plug tubes. Front timing cover oil leaks are less common but more costly.

2005 Infiniti FX35 Mileage Danger Zones

The mileage windows when the 2005 Infiniti FX35 most commonly needs attention. Plan ahead, budget accordingly, and inspect before you cross each threshold.

30,000

Low Risk Zone

At this mileage, the FX35 is barely broken in. Focus on routine oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections. Any issues are likely manufacturing defects or early wear items.

60,000

Maintenance Zone

This is a critical mileage for fluid services (transmission, differentials, power steering) and spark plugs. You might start to hear early signs of suspension bushing wear.

90,000

Elevated Risk Zone

Expect potential for more significant suspension work (control arms, struts). Engine oil leaks (valve covers) are likely to manifest. Monitor for any electrical quirks.

120,000+

High Risk Zone

At this point, many components have reached the end of their design life. Transmission valve body issues, power steering leaks, and further suspension overhauls become more probable. This is where diligent maintenance history pays off.
