Should You Buy the 2014 Infiniti QX60?
The 2014 Infiniti QX60 offers a spacious, comfortable, and luxurious family hauler experience at an attractive used price. However, its Achilles' heel is the continuously variable transmission (CVT), which poses a significant long-term reliability risk that potential buyers must seriously consider and mitigate.
The 2014 Infiniti QX60 is a beautiful and comfortable family SUV that presents good value on the used market. However, the omnipresent risk of a costly CVT transmission failure prevents a confident recommendation. If you are prepared to diligently maintain the CVT and factor in potential repair costs or an extended…

The Jatco CVT is prone to premature wear, shuddering, overheating, and complete failure. This can be caused by inadequate cooling, fluid degradation, and internal component wear, leading to costly replacement.
On AWD models, the transfer case can develop fluid leaks, often from the seals, leading to low fluid levels and potential internal component damage if not addressed. Early detection is key to prevent catastrophic failure.
The power liftgate system can fail, with common issues including worn-out liftgate struts losing their ability to hold the gate open or the electric motor failing to open/close it properly. This is more of an inconvenience than a critica…

Maintenance Zone
This is a critical interval for CVT fluid replacement, which is paramount for its longevity. Suspension components like sway bar links might start to show minor wear. AWD models should have transfer case fluid checked.
Elevated Risk Zone
The CVT is now in its prime window for potential issues if not meticulously maintained. Expect to address suspension wear (struts, bushings) and potentially some electrical gremlins or power liftgate issues. Transfer case leaks may also…
High Risk Zone
Beyond 120,000 miles, the risk of major CVT failure increases substantially. Engine oil consumption might become more noticeable. Be prepared for comprehensive suspension overhauls and potentially more frequent minor electrical or sensor…
