2016 RAM 1500 Mileage Danger Zones
The mileage windows when the 2016 RAM 1500 most commonly needs attention. Plan ahead, budget accordingly, and inspect before you cross each threshold.
Low Risk Zone
At this mileage, most vehicles are still under factory warranty or just past it. Primary concerns would be early electrical glitches, Uconnect issues, and ensuring basic maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations) has been diligent.
Maintenance Zone
This mileage often signals the need for significant preventative maintenance. Pay close attention to tire condition, brake life, and the first signs of the common Hemi exhaust manifold leaks or air suspension noises.
Elevated Risk Zone
Here, major component wear becomes a significant factor. Hemi engine valvetrain issues (lifters, cam) can start to manifest. Air suspension failures are more probable. Budget for potential larger repairs.
High Risk Zone
Beyond 120,000 miles, the truck is entering a phase where multiple systems could require attention. Expect potential failures of original components like alternators, starters, and continued monitoring of engine and air suspension health.
2016 RAM 1500 Ownership Cost Outlook
What it typically costs to keep the 2016 RAM 1500 on the road. Full 5-year cost-of-ownership projection and major-failure-risk forecast are in the report.
Annual Maintenance
$500-800 (for general service)
Moderate Repairs
$500-1,500 occasionally (e.g., exhaust manifold, suspension component)
How Long Does the 2016 RAM 1500 Last?
For used models, aim for a Ram 1500 with under 70,000 miles if possible, and ensure a comprehensive service history is available. Vehicles beyond 100,000 miles should be significantly discounted to account for impending major repairs.
